Christmas Party
Hi all, well done to everyone, over the last few weeks you
have all defiantly made big improvements.
So Friday is party and awards night, as I said in class, not
everyone will get an award, this does not mean you aren’t as good as someone
who gets one, there are several factors to each award given, it’s been
especially hard this year to select students fort the awards.
You’ve all done yourselves and parents proud.

October Grading
Friday, September 22, 2023
Date Change
Hi all, Slight change to the grading date, grading will take place on Wednesday 18th October.
If anyone has anything specific they want to go through for
grading then tonight is the night to ask as we are closed next week.
The minimum requirements for the grading are 20 lessons and
3 months for the coloured belts and 40 lessons and 6 months for brown belt.
Purple belts and above are asked to attend even if they are
not grading this time, this doesn’t cost them anything to take part but it
gives them chance to keep on top of their training and a good way of knowing
what to expect when taking a senior belt.

Competition Training
Hi all, as mentioned last week I asked about the community centre availability for the Wednesday night during October and it’s available; the class would be for competition stuff only, so concentration on Kata and Kumite. I need your spurt on this and regular commitment as the community hall isn’t free.
If you are thinking of entering the competition in November
and what to do an extra class please let me know ASAP. There needs to be a
minimum of 7 students to do the class each week and it will be £5 per student
per class, let me know by Friday the latest so I can either book the room or
not, thank you Steve.

Getting Ready for Competition
The focus will be changing soon to the upcoming competition.
You need to decide if you want to just do Kata, Kumite or Both .. I would
recommend you do both where possible to gain valuable experience for the
future!
This is where FEAR may creep in, and you may decide not to
do this comp or any other because FEAR tells you that you are not good enough,
you will lose, you will make a mistake, you may not be as good as you think you
are, people may laugh at you!! Ultimately FEAR will keep you in your cosy
comfort zone and you will never know if you were or are good enough!
However all is not lost, FEAR has two meanings depending on
which way you want to look at opportunities and your mindset :-
Face Everything And Run :-
Isn’t the way to go through life in any measure, life is to
be lived, enjoyed and learned from at every opportunity that crosses your path.
Face Everything And Rise :-
Maybe there will be losses, injuries, disappointments but
you will have faced your FEAR and had amazing memories, victories, enjoyment
and sheer joy of putting yourself out there and a feeling of accomplishment.
It is up to you whether FEAR rules you or you rule FEAR!
